The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)
NICE developed Medical Technologies Guidance (MTG26) on Urolift- a urethral lift implant for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
The guidance found that the technology relieves the symptoms of BPH, reduces the length of a person's stay in hospital, and leads to cost savings to the NHS of up to £286 per patient. The technology went from being used in 4 hospitals to 15 within 6 months of guidance publication.
