Department for International Trade
What it does
The Department for International Trade (DIT) helps global companies to invest and grow in the UK and supports UK-based companies to export. Our team includes life sciences and healthcare experts as well as Healthcare UK, which is co-funded by DIT, NHS England, and the Department for Health and Social Care.
- Free, tailored support on inward investment journeys for foreign-owned companies developing products and services for the UK market.
- Early engagement to find out about our trade and export finance capabilities for companies thinking of exporting from the UK to access new markets
- Advice and services through a network of staff in the UK and based in British Embassies and Consulates overseas.
What it doesn't do
We do not invest directly into businesses or health technologies although we work with parties that can provide access to capital to scale and grow a business. We do not conduct business development on behalf of companies. We are not responsible for customs, tax, or border control. We work closely with but are distinct from the Office for Life Sciences.
Data will not be shared if you do not choose to receive support from DIT.
If you do choose to receive support from DIT data will only be shared beyond the organisation with your explicit consent. Our sector specialists will talk to you about your requirements and agree with you what information you are willing to share with other parts of our DIT UK and global network, or with partner organisations.
We will review the information you have submitted within 20 working days. You will only be contacted if we feel that DIT can offer you support about inward investment or exporting.
